A day filled with waves, beers and iconic land marks- I would have to say this is one day trip everyone needs to take while in the Bay Area. We were road tripping from the East Bay and decided to drive to the farthest point out and work our way back home. We left Livermore at 10am and it left us enough time to explore Point Reyes, indulge at Lagunitas and catch a sunset hike at Golden Gate bridge.
Starting at Point Reyes Lighthouse, we were overwhelmed with rolling hills, oceanic sights and large cliff faces. A sunny day in May, we were lucky to escape the fog, and were rewarded with blue skies and clear views of the ocean. In order to get down to the light house you must walk down a large set of stairs, equivalent to 30 stories. That means climbing 30 flights of stairs on the way up- good thing we were able to gain those burned calories back at Lagunitas Brewery in Petaluma!
Drink good beer. Listen to live music. Pet cute dogs. Eat good food. Soak up the sunshine. Pretty much sums up our experience at Lagunitas Brewery. We enjoyed the laid back vibes at this brewery, and will definitely be frequenting here more often!
Aaaaand, you can’t travel the bay area without stopping to see the Golden Gate bridge. Surprisingly, I have traveled in and out of San Francisco many times but have never actually taken the time to get out of the car and stop to take pictures of the bridge. Seeing this iconic bridge up close and personal, is a friendly reminder why San Francisco is one of the best cities in the world. We drove to Fort Baker, which is at the base of the Golden Gate, which I highly recommend for those wanting to take pictures. Surprisingly there were only a few other visitors in that area. It is about a 15-20 minute hike up the hill if you want to walk on the bridge and take pictures from above.
