Glamping on the Beach in Northern California | @brittsbellavita Travel Blogger and Photographer
Ever wanted to Glamp on the beaches of Northern California? This Mendocino, CA based company can help make all your Glamp Dreams come true! Beach Glamping is a unique getaway for couples, friends or even families looking to escape to nature, while enjoying luxury amenities for an intimate experience on the California coast.
Sooo my husband and I are big, big, big camping people - and the idea of glamping has been on our bucket list of travel experiences for quite some time. The idea of being able to still experience nature as you would camping, with the comforts of some of the luxuries you'd find at a hotel really intrigued us. Lucky for us, we were able to check off TWO bucket list travel experiences... Glamping AND sleeping on the beach!
The Glamping Tent
If you love yourself some Boho Chic decor, then brace yourself, because you may be tempted to stay and never leave this amazing tent! My instagramming radar was going off like crazy, because every little detail in this tent was clearly hand picked with love and care by a gypsy soul with incredible taste. Everything from the rugs, pillows, coffee mugs, and hand towels looked and felt thoughtfully curated.
The exterior of the tent was even adorned with two chairs and rug for us to sit and enjoy our coffee in the morning, and a glass of wine at night to watch the sunset over the ocean.
I honestly didn't know what to expect when it came to the inside of a glamping tent, and our expectations were very much exceeded to say the least. Wayward Glamping adorned the interior with locally made hand soaps, a mirror, water basin, and towels to accommodate your camping toiletry essentials.
The tent was much larger than we expected! It fit a Queen size bed, toiletry station, two side tables, and even this adorable seating area with floor pillows for playing games or just chilling out reading a book. We even had room for our luggage in another corner! A bluetooth speaker, lights and plugs for electronic devices were also a great luxury in the tent!
At hotels, you might expect a Keurig machine with Folgers style K Cups and styrofoam to-go cups. Our slow mornings waking up in the tent consisted of heating up some water to make ourselves a tasty gourmet cup of Joe, and they even thoughtfully included a French Press for the coffee enthusiasts.
Foggy coastal mornings are even more magical when you get to wake up on the sand in a glamping tent!
We got our drone up to take some photos of the tent, I love the way these turned out! I linked our drone photography page and travel blogging page if you want to give us a follow! @drinksafterdrone and @brittsbellavita
The Beach Location
If you look closely you can see our humble abode, and not many other campers on this awesome beach!
The glamping tent was located at Westport Beach RV Park + Campground, and set up by the amazing company Wayward Glamping. Westport, CA is in Mendocino County and about 30 minutes North of Fort Bragg, CA. This RV Park and Campground is fitted for beach campers year round, and they even have small cabins and cottages available on site for families and couples.
My husband and I had never been to Mendocino, but it was HIGH on our list of local staycations. As local California residents, we have done many road trips, and I am still shocked it took us this long to finally make a visit.
Unfortunately we went during a time the fires started raging in Mendocino, so we didn't see the sun much during our stay! Although, we were very much looking forward to getting out of the deathly Sacramento heat and enjoying the cooler coastal temperatures.
We shacked up in our Glamping tent for the two days and didn't leave the campground. It was very easy to NOT leave, trust me you won't want to go anywhere else once you hear the waves crashing and the sand in your toes. We honestly felt like we were on a honeymoon and this would be the PERFECT honeymoon excursion for adventurous newlyweds.
What to Bring for your Glamping Vacation
We are total coffee snobs, even when it comes to camping! Look we may not buy designer clothes, but when it comes to our beverages we enjoy the "finer" things in life. Craft beer, good wine, and quality coffee are important! Making coffee while camping doesn't have to be hard either. Sure, it might take a little bit of time, but the process in itself is therapeutic and very rewarding.
We brought some of our own basic camping kitchen gear, because yes you are still CAMPING! As I mentioned up above- coffee, cups, and a French press were provided. We actually have the same French Press at home, and LOVE it, but we decided to bring our pour over cone just because its less messy and we were kind of lazy like that when it comes to cleaning hehe!
You will also need to boil hot water for your coffee, and our two essential items we bring with us camping is our Coleman Camp Stove + Percolator. You can also make the coffee in the percolator, but we tend to use the cone when it is just the two of us camping, and utilize the percolator for larger groups since it makes 12 cups!
Before we went Glamping, we did a camping trip in the same week, so when it came to meals we were trying to be super simple. We made Birch Benders Paleo Pancakes, and added blueberries, nomnomnom!! We are not big breakfast people when it comes to camping, but the cooler coastal mornings inspired us to make pancakes. It was the perfect hot, comforting, and easy meal to make. We will definitely be making pancakes more often while camping!
It was nice the campground had picnic tables for each beach site! It came in handy for setting up our little kitchen and enjoying a meal.
We have a 3 burner Coleman Propane Stove and it's been a camping essential in Brian's family for many generations! We also recently invested in some Cast Iron Skillets because we loved the idea of being able to cook over the campfire, and we currently own a 12 Inch + 8 Inch Lodge Cast Iron Skillet and we now use it camping AND at home daily. There is something about a cast iron skillet that makes you feel homey and rustic. We've made some BOMB camping meals and desserts in our stoves over the fire! Just remember to use an oven mit when touching the hot skillet handle!
This breakfast + this view = HAPPY PLACE
And NOW for my next favorite simple camping meal...TORTELLINI! I'm all about the one pot meals and this was so easy and delicious. All you need is the pasta, sauce and some cheese and VOILA!
The campground even had a little camp store with beer + wine! We decided to patronize and buy a local Mendocino wine. Our favorite thing to do when traveling is to find a local libation!
