Affordable Rooftop Bars in Bangkok

Bangkok, Thailand is known for having some of the best rooftop bars in the world, but prices vary depending on where you go. In this article, we will show you two budget-friendly rooftop bar options worth visiting while in Bangkok.

Okay, so if you're planning a trip to Bangkok, I'm sure you've already considered visiting a rooftop bar, but you might be wondering if it's worth the trouble. Maybe you're backpacking through Asia and getting dressed up just to get into one of Bangkok's popular rooftop bars isn't worth the suitcase space, or spending an absurd amount of money on a drink just doesn't seem like you.

Over 8 million people live in Bangkok's metropolitan area, which has a population comparable to New York City and London. The jaw-dropping skyscrapers that grace the murky riverside, combined with temples interspersed throughout the city, create a stunning contrast of modern and historical beauty.

So, if you know me, you know that I am frugal and enjoy a good view. I'm always looking for ways to save money because money in your pocket feels better than money wasted! When I was researching different rooftop bars, I noticed a common theme among the best ones...EXPENSIVE! On weekend nights, expect pricey cocktails, a dress code, and limited seating.

What is the Average Drink Price for a Rooftop Bar?

In Thailand, the average drink price at a rooftop bar ranges between $28 and $45. When visiting a rooftop bar, keep in mind that the dress code is usually formal.

Iconsiam Roof Top Bar

So, if you're planning a trip to Bangkok, keep this article in mind! The Iconsiam is a posh new mall that opened in 2018 and is one of Asia's largest. It stands ten stories tall and houses a plethora of restaurants, clothing stores, museums, luxury car dealerships, and pretty much anything else a shopper could desire! The ground floor is my favorite because it features an indoor market with "street food," a mock floating river market, and a plethora of handcrafted souvenirs.

If you go to the sixth floor, you'll find two restaurants: Fallabella River Front and HOBS. Both have access to outdoor seating and have expansive views of the city. NO DRESS CODE IS REQUIRED TO ENJOY THE AMAZING VIEWS OF THE CHAO PHRAYA RIVER AND THE BANGKOK SKYLINE. We only came in for a beer, so I can't speak to the food, but based on online reviews, I'd skip the meal and just come for a drink.

Drink Price = $8.00.- $10.00

View = Vast Skyline and Chao Phraya River

Dress Code = NONE :)

This is the "floating" market on the Ground level floor. Can anyone spot the Durian?

Me enjoying a Thai craft beer with an amazing view! This romper was perfect for exploring Bangkok by day and temple attire approved.

Rooftop Bar at Sala Rattanakosin Bangkok

So, this next spectacular bar view isn't at a skyscraper, but it does require a little bit of climbing to get there. You'll get views of the city's two most famous temples, Wat Pho and Wat Arun, and the scenery at night will leave you with a tingle in your heart and a sparkle in your eye that you'll remember forever. This bar is located in the Phra Nakhon District and is hidden in plain sight. To get there, go to the Sala Rattanakosin boutique hotel and climb the stairs to the third level. There are other rooftop bars in this area that I would like to visit the next time we are in the area. There is nothing more humbling than being at eye level with the city's majestic Temples.

Drink Price = $8.00-$10.00

View = Unbelievable views of the two most famous temples in the city

Dress Code = NONE :)

Tell me what you guys think of these two budget friendly options for a cocktail with a view! :) Would you choose #1 or #2?
